After 3 years of living in Mississippi creating videos without knowing a single YouTuber IRL, I moved back to London and figured I could finally get to know other creators in person. I was surprised to find it difficult to find a group for smaller YouTubers like me already in existence, so I made my own!
As much as I enjoy being in front of the camera, it is the experiences I have had off-camera with LSY and other eager beaver creators that has really made an impact on my life, but it couldn’t have happened without YouTube.
My channelThis London Lifeis a fantastic resource for tourists and locals alike to indulge in London life through recommendations and suggestions, history, walks, vlogs and more. I run the Twitter and Instagram platforms for the channel as well.
For LSY, I edit and update our website, write for our blog, manage and moderate the Facebook group, arrange and host meetups and workshops, network with brands and other influencers to provide new and intriguing opportunities, edit the monthly newsletter, post to the Twitter and Facebook Page accounts, and write a weekly column for We The Unicorns spotlighting some of our most talented creators.
Rachel Shannon, Co-Administrator
Small, ginger and highly enthusiastic, I am a very up for community, creativity and pushing one’s boundaries… sooo – I found myself trying and then loving making YouTube videos.
As a British Vlogger I want to make videos that are honest, encouraging and entertaining. I recently ran a weekly series discussing positive thinking, reactions to recent events and adventures I found myself on, have worked as a presenter for other channels and as an event videographer.
I’m privileged to say that I have connected with some truly amazing people through YouTube and in particular LSY. I’ve loved supporting our network in person, particularly leading seminars on topics such as ‘knowing your niche’ and ‘branding your channel better’ – I am pumped to see where we are this time next year!
Abigail Spear, Creative Director
With a background in theatre and singing, I am most at home in a creative environment and am loving youtube as a platform for that! I am super excited to join the LSY admin team as Creative Director! A really beautiful, forward thinking community is developing in LSY and I look forward to contributing to this positive, helpful place of collaboration and creativity!
As a singer, my own channel is predominantly a music channel but I am naturally curious and excited about many things so vlogging, lifestyle and beauty vids also make their way onto my channel every now and again! In my spare time I enjoy wailing my way through operas, doing the splits at inappropriate moments and fuelling my body with banana ‘nice’cream!
Kim Bradford, Social Media Director
I am an American living in London and working on a Master’s degree in Marketing at Kingston University. I have dreamed of living in London since I was 14, and I hope to stay here permanently after graduation, working in social media. I started my YouTube channel ‘ExpressiveKim’ just over a year ago after moving to London and attending Summer in the City, where I felt like some of the panels didn’t represent ‘the little guys’ point of view. My videos cover a wide range of topics from YouTube culture to candy challenges with my mum. I’ve been an LSY member since it’s early days, and I’m very excited to take on this new role. I love travelling, attending concerts, and board games with friends, and my favorite place in London is Regent’s Park with a good book in hand.
Will Carne, Community Strategist
I started my first YouTube channel in 2007 and since then I’ve made around 300 videos. Most people know me from my A-level revision videos, but nowadays I make vlogs and short films.
I won’t bore you with my life story… I will instead direct you to my Draw My Life video (got to get ‘dem VIEWS – I joke, relentless self-promotion is generally frowned upon).
I’m currently working on a feature film and studying at film school with ambitions to make stuff with a slightly blurrier background, on a much heavier camera. As the 31st member of LSY, I’ve now been honoured with the role of ‘Community Strategist’ – no I’m not sure what that means either, but I for one am excited.
Nadya Yudina, Web Editor
I was never really into YouTube until almost two years ago. You know how it happens – you watch a video after a video, and then you blink and you have over 200 channels you are subscribed to. So in November 2015 I’ve decided to give it a go and started posting my own videos. They are mostly comedy sketches with a bit of animation implemented into them.
LSY is probably one of the best things I have discovered through YouTube. Not only have I made loads of friends through this, but I also find inspiration and encouragement every time I go to the meet ups or check the Facebook group. I am excited to see the group grow and also help out in any way I can!
Jonathan Kobylanski, Head of Marketing and Digital Creative
I am a Creative.
I’ve been doing YouTube and digital creative things for around 7 years. I guess you could say I’m the utility knife, I fit where and when I’m needed – be it marketing, 3D printing, design or eating all the jaffa cakes.
I run a digital creative agency managing multiple cross-media company brands. Me myself, I have 2 YouTube channels – one of me as a creative and one of me as an entertainer. However, I spend a lot more time on my creative channel nowadays. I have been wanting a YouTube community in London for such a long time! So when I saw LSY, I could not help myself. I just jumping head first into it!
Anyway, I better head off I think I see some Oreos!
Izzii Elliott, Photographer
Creative outlets have always been important to me, singing, acting and hogging the family camera on holidays were integral parts of my childhood.
I have made several attempts at YouTube over the years, but after getting stuck in a creative rut and getting bogged down in uni studies last year, I started my YouTube channel afresh, and I love being able to create again.
Visual memory is so important to me, and my photography comes from the same place as my videos, a desire to capture emotion and experience, and keep it safe for the future. I am so excited that I now get to do that for this wonderful community.
Ricardo Clarke, Group Leader (London YouTube Creators)
Hello I’m Ricardooo. My name rhymes with avacado. If I was an inch taller, I’d be abnormally tall. I’m a TV Editor for my day job and personal growth YouTuber for my weekends & evening job.
Let’s say you’re in a coffee shop and you get an email saying the organiser of your local YouTubers meetup has stepped down. Would you take it or leave it?
Well, that’s what happened to me. I hesitated, but in the end decided to take it. And what a great decision that turned out to be! Eleana invited me and the other YouTube Creators to come along to the LSY meetup. Since then we have grown from strenght to strength together and look forward to you joining the journey.
